FERNDALE, Ca. (KIEM)-It has been a Ferndale tradition for 85 years and counting, with nearly the whole town turning out in anticipation.
America’s largest living Christmas tree was all decked out with colorful lights strung up by Ferndale’s volunteer fire department on Sunday.
It’s an annual tradition dating back to 1934 that occurs on the first Sunday in December.
Locals revel in the holiday magic with a celebration happening afterward with a live band, free hot cocoa and home-made cookies.
